Hailing from Motueka amongst the natural wilderness of the upper South Island, Roots Country duo Silver Lining write folk music influenced grooves inspired by life, love and their own freedom of spirit. Friends for a decade, guitarist Dave Gilberd and vocalist Nadia Goranson write ethereal original songs together that create space melody and mood.

At times slow and thoughtful, sometimes deep and always full of soul, Silver Lining is well described as two life-loving souls working together to explore what their eclectic musical tastes and unique creative talents can produce when combined. Their original songs are played with tangible passion, and tastefully chosen cover songs performed in Silver Lining’s own spacious style, sit snugly within the set.

As a musician, Matiu’s ability to powerfully connect with and lift a crowd with his powerful stage presence, while fronting great bands or with his solid solo looping show is mesmerising.

Looping live, Matiu's soulful roots music has a strong Maori flavor, using haka, chants and traditional Maori instruments, backed by grabbing grooves, deep, beautifully crafted bass lines, funky rhythms and magical melodies that stay with you well after the show ends, all held up by a pillar of Pacific passion and top class technical precision
