    Event description

We are delighted to host Chef, Author and Farmer, Matthew Evans in the Mid West of WA, as part of his Regional Tour in WA and on the back of his attendance at the Regenerative Ag Conference in the South West of WA.  The focus of Matthew's visit is to support the growth and development of our region as a food and beverage destination, along with learning more about his passions for food, farming, nutrient dense food, soils and how growers can tell their stories.

The 2023 Matthew Evans Regional WA Tour is funded by the Western Australian state government's Agriculture Climate Resilience fund, supported by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

To make the most of Matthew's visit, we have three activities planned including:

    Breakfast Event: 15 September 2023, NACC NRM (4 Walton Close) | 7.30 am - 9.30 am

The focus of the breakfast will be an opportunity to review the recent Regenerative Agriculture Conference held on 6-8 September 2023 in Margaret River.  A light breakfast will be provided, along with a panel discussion with:

    • Matthew Evans (Special Guest and Speaker at the Regenerative Ag Conference)
    • Rod O'Bree (Yanget Farm and Speaker at the Regenerative Ag Conference)
    • Katherine Allen (CEO, NACC NRM and Attendee at the Regenerative Ag Conference)

Our guests will have the opportunity to share their observations, learning and visions for the role of regenerative agriculture in the Mid West region, particularly as it applies to our growing food bowl focus, and based on their experiences and attendance at the Regenerative Agriculture Conference.

Catering will be a light breakfast featuring Mid West produce, and created and served by the Central Regional TAFE hospitality team of lecturers and students. Please note there is limited opportunity to cater for individual dietary requirements; however, a selection of light breakfast offerings will be available.  The TAFE Coffee Cart will also be in attendance to purchase coffee.  Our thanks to the Northern Agricultural Catchments Council (NACC) NRM for the opportunity to host the breakfast at their new office and venue.

Venue: NACC NRM, 4 Walton Close, Geraldton WA 6530.

Farm to Fork Master Class: 15 September 2023, Yanget Farm, | 2.00 - 5.00 pm

Join Matthew Evans and friends for a relaxed conversation about building a Farm to Fork business and brand.  As there is a great and growing opportunity for the Mid West to take its place as a fantastic region with a strong regional food and beverage brand, this is an opportunity to learn from Matthew's personal and professional experience.

Hear about Matthew's journey at Fat Pig Farm in Tasmania, and how he created a unique food and agri-tourism venture.  Alongside Matthew, we will also hear from some of our very own Mid West businesses on the progress of building their own unique Mid West branded food, beverage and agri-tourism places and products.

Plus, we'll take a farm walk with Rod O'Bree from Yanget Farm to learn more about his rehydration and regenerative farming principles and how this is feeding into building his own food brands.

BYO Chair & Water!  Tea, coffee and a light afternoon tea will be served at the Yanget Farmhouse.

Venue: Yanget Farm, Yanget Rd, Kojarena WA 6532.

    Networking Supper: 15 September 2023, Yanget Farm | 6.00 - 8.30 pm

Join the Mid West Food Industries Alliance,  Matthew Evans and friends for a relaxed networking supper at Yanget Farm.  Featuring a buffet supper with local produce, help us thank Matthew for visiting the Mid West and have the opportunity to network with fellow Mid West focussed producers and foodies.  A relaxed affair, bring your own chair and a warm jacket, and enjoy some great company, conversations and a light supper together. Drinks at BYO alcohol, with water and soft drinks available.

This will be an opportunity for us also to provide an update on the activities of the Mid West Food Industries Alliance, talk about food production in our region, and take a moment to pause and enjoy our region.

Venue: Yanget Farm, Yanget Rd, Kojarena WA 6532.
