Step into the world of Mau Rākau – the traditional Māori art of weaponry – in this fun, action-packed wānanga just for tamariki aged 9 - 14 years!

Guided by friendly, experienced Mau Rākau kaiako, Brad Ta'avao, attendees will learn basic taiaha skills through exciting games, movement challenges, and storytelling.

This is a safe, hands-on introduction where tamariki can build coordination, confidence, and connection to te ao Māori while having heaps of fun. Suitable for boys and girls, no prior experience needed – just bring comfy clothes, a drink bottle, a packed lunch and lots of energy.

This event is organised by Te Huka Tai Trust with funding from Lotteries. We didn't want cost to be a barrier, so have created an option for 'free tickets' and an option for 'koha tickets' where you can pay what works for you. Please choose whichever type of ticket suits.
