A Kindred Interactive Workshop
About this event
THIS EVENT IS HELD OVER 2 SESSIONS
Session 1: Monday 24 June 2024; 7:30pm - 9.00pm (AEST)
Session 2: Monday 1 July 2024; 7:30pm - 9.00pm (AEST)
About this event
When children are identified with a developmental delay or disability, families are often told that their child needs therapy and the importance of starting early. Â
We all want the best for our children. How, as parents, can we get the most out of our early childhood developmental support and make it work best for our child and family?  Â
Join this interactive workshop to learn about:Â Â
- The different ways to use therapy to support your child and family to thrive Â
- The role of the caregiver and whole familyÂ
- Who is on your child's team, and how you can work together Â
- The benefits of community and mainstream support Â
This workshop will introduce you to evidence-based and best practice approaches and practical experiences and strategies from parents. Â
Note: the language that we use matters. Through consultation for the 'Reimagine Early Childhood Action', families reported negative connotations associated with the word 'intervention'. The term 'Early Childhood Intervention' is more aligned with the medical model of disability. We have chosen to honour the insights of families and adopt the terms' early childhood developmental care' and 'early childhood developmental supports'. Â
