Event description

Hello Mamas! After nearly a year away, The Mama Circle returns with a one off circle funded as part of our larger project, Between the Mountains and the Sea. This will be the same format we usually do, with guest artist, Kate Mackay, facilitating a beautiful arts activity in our usual journaling time to create something special to take home with you. Kate has attended previous Mama Circles and so knows how things go in circle with you beautiful mamas.

A bit about the project

'Between the Mountains and the Sea' is an ambitious project, co-creating a large scale outdoor visual theatre production of a brand new folk tale in autumn 2025 in partnership with Moray communities alongside professional artists and theatre makers. Imagine walls of choral sound, magnificent sculptural costumes, illuminated cavalcades of storytellers, fiery effigies and quiet exchanges of words of hope for the future.

Community groups and individuals across Moray are invited to take part in the first phase (Chapter One) of this exciting project, where we will discover the characters and creatures in our story. We invite you mamas to be part of this community. Rest assured, this will essentially be the same as our usual circle time, alongside exploring themes and characters inspired by Moray through a gentle, nurturing creative activity.

Workshops with all kinds of groups will be taking place throughout Moray and the characters and themes generated in these will be the starting point for creating a new folk tale and accompanying choral song.

What happens next?

Our creative team will gather all the amazing ideas from the community groups we've worked with to create a new folk tale. Chapter One will then culminate in an informal, outdoor sharing event at the summer solstice (Fri 21 June) to which you will all be invited. Here you'll have you'll have the chance to meet other project participants and to be amongst the first to hear the brand new tale.

For details of what will happen in Chapters 2 and 3, come along to the circle to find out more.

With funding secured for this project, this one-off circle is offered on a 'pay what you can' basis.

This circle is your chance to nurture and nourish yourself in an idyllic setting and to let go of all you're holding in a safe space.

For the investment in your ticket, you will receive:

- A guided meditation (don't worry if you've never done one before!)

- A guided journalling session to write down your thoughts

- Delicious luxury tea and cake

- A chance to share anything you need to talk about right now (although you don't need to share if you don't want to)

- A chance to meet like-minded women and have deeper, more connected conversation

- An experienced facilitator who nurtures you, as you so truly deserve

- An arts workshop with community arts practitioner, Kate Mackay with your own goodies to take home

- Qualified forest school leaders and childcare staff offering a gentle child-led nature play session

- A low sugar plant based hot chocolate and biscuit for your little people

So whilst I nurture you mama, you can feel safe in the knowledge your children will be playing outside with gentle and experienced childcare staff. Your children can come in and out of the space as they need to and of course babes in arms can be with you the whole time.

Your children can have plenty of fun playing outdoors, doing craft activities and exploring the paddock whilst you spend some time on you and your needs for a little while.

What other women are saying....

'I loved the childcare. That made the event accessible and was a wonderful experience for the children too. I felt very relaxed and able to focus on sitting in circle as the children were in safe hands.'

'The tea and cake was absolutely wonderful and felt very nurturing and luxurious.'

'It was a wonderful circle, thank you so much. I didn't realise how much I needed it.'

'Alison is wonderful and has such a lovely, calming yet ‘normal’ way about her. So down to earth, completely unconditionally welcoming and so aligned. In all honesty, I was nervous about it being too ‘hippy’ for me and not sure I’d be able to let go or relax into it. Well, I was wrong. It was amazing and I sure did let go. It was so, so great to be around other women who are all going through the same things, so we could resonate and feel relief together.'

'I cried the week I couldn't go.'

This truly is a magical couple of hours that can help you reset, recharge and release all you have to hold together.

I hope to see you there mama xxx
