May Matters Walk 2025
Event description
Our annual May Matters Walk is back for 2025!
Join us in the heart of Christchurch (rain or shine!) as we walk together to raise awareness and show our support for those in our community affected by brain cancer. All ticket proceeds will go to the White Matter brain cancer Trust, an organisation set up to provide tailored support and financial assistance to individuals diagnosed with primary brain cancer. Learn more about what we do here.

Meet at Pegasus Arms (corner of Oxford Terrace and Antigua Street)
Adults $25 / Youth $10 / Kids FREE
Our fun family-friendly walk is approximately 4.5km long, beginning outside Pegasus Arms on Oxford Terrace and continuing along the banks of the Ōtākaro/Avon River. We wander past the Boatsheds, through the Bridge of Remembrance and along the Promenade towards Margaret Mahy Family Playground, and looping back towards the Terrace before finishing where we started.
The route is suitable for all ages, abilities, and four-legged friends – so be sure to spread the word and bring everyone along.
Pegasus Arms opens at 11am so feel free to BYO reusable cup for a coffee or hot drink while you walk.
After the walk:
We have a small area at Pegasus Arms reserved, so feel free to join us afterwards, where great food and drink will be available to purchase. Pegasus Arms is kid friendly with an outdoor area as well as a cosy interior with a roaring fire during winter. Delicious!
