Description

We are delighted to invite you to our next Monash MBA alumni networking event, Networking for change - Taking action on family and domestic violence.

About the event:

As part of our MBA Alumni Engagement Program, this event will be a great opportunity to come together and catch-up with MBA alumni. You’ll also learn more about how to join the 2024 Monash MBA Polished Man campaign to raise money and awareness in the fight against family and domestic violence.

We’ve all seen the gut-wrenching stories and statistics around intimate partner violence and femicide. Violence against women and children is now a problem of epidemic proportions in Australia.

  • The cost of violence against women and their children is estimated at A$26 billion a year.
  • Domestic and family violence is a leading driver of homelessness for women.
  • Intimate partner homicide is the most prevalent homicide type in Australia.

As the Monash MBA community, we can make a change by coming together to raise awareness and raise money in the fight against domestic and family violence.

This ‘networking for change’ event will feature a brief panel discussion, offering a compelling exploration of the challenges, service responses, and collective effort underway in Victoria to ensure that all people are able to live a life free from violence.

Our guests include:

  • Prof Kate Fitz-Gibbon - Monash Business School and Chair of Respect Victoria
  • Suzanne Paynter - Group Director Business Growth, Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre and Monash MBA alumna.
  • Sarah Treloar - Board Member, Centre Against Family Violence

We’ll also learn how to join the Monash MBA team taking part in “Polished Man” 2024 - a powerful movement to inform and ignite crucial conversations about this critical issue.

Drinks, nibbles, and a whole lot of nail painting will be available throughout the evening.
