Event description

About this event:

Just weeks into his second term, President Trump has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement and signed a series of executive orders that dramatically altered the U.S. course on climate and energy policy. What does this shift mean for global climate efforts and the energy transition? In this session, Professor Guri Bang from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) will provide insights into these developments, drawing on her expertise in environmental governance, U.S. climate policy, and international energy transitions.

About the speakers:

Guri Bang is a Professor of Environmental Governance at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), specializing in international climate cooperation, U.S. climate and energy policy, and just energy transitions. With a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Oslo (2004), her research explores the political feasibility of energy system transitions, the impact of populism on climate policy, and the dynamics of international climate negotiations. Her work has been widely published in leading academic journals, including Global Environmental Politics, Climate Policy, and Environmental Politics. She has led multiple research projects and actively collaborates with both Norwegian and international institutions on climate governance, energy transitions, and the role of political institutions in shaping climate policy.
