Mount Crosby Historical Society Lantern Show – Ipswich Galvanized Festival
Description
See inside the iconic pumping station and hear a presentation from the historical society on the theme of ‘Home’, especially as that applied to life within the water supply company town between 1890 and 1997.
Schedule
Five pumping station tours will run at 20-minute intervals from 4:00pm.
Presentation and Lantern Show from approximately 6:30pm.
Guided tours of the unique 1890 workers’ cottages will also be available 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
Meet at Mount Crosby Pumping Station (Works Hill), off Stumers Road, Mount Crosby, QLD 4306.
Important details
Free to attend. Gold coin or folding donations gratefully accepted at event or with booking.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Some uneven ground. Special arrangement can be made to assist disabled or older patrons.
Age limitation: 12+ for access to the pumping station. No age limit on presentation, cottage tours and general attendance.
Details including parking information will be provided after registration.
To see inside the pumping station you will be required to wear covered shoes, long sleeves and trousers/slacks. Required personal protective equipment will be provided (ear plugs, vests, safety glasses).
It will be cold – bring a jacket. The pumping station is noisy – ear plugs will be provided and must be worn.
Places are limited and registrations are required. A waitlist will be available if places book out.
This event is held by Mt Crosby Historical Society as part of Ipswich's Galvanized – A Festival of Heritage.
