MDC Meet-up's is excited to continue to build our online community. We've loved the flexibility our monthly meetup's had in 2020 to welcome new interstate and overseas community members and we're looking forward to coming together every month to discuss pertinent issues in development practice.

July topic: Research in International Development

The recent RDI Network Conference showcased research, initiatives, and innovations that could inform the future of sustainable development and socio-economic recovery in the Pacific and Southeast Asia regions.

Through the disruption of COVID-19, climate change and conflict we're presented with the opportunity to innovate and imagine a new pathway forward, we invite you to join us in discussing how research can support and inform our work as development practioners in this critical time.

Lead Conversationalist: Tanja Rosenqvist, Lecturer in Humanitarian Engineering, RMIT

For the past 10 years Tanja has led complex design and research projects in a wide range of contexts; from public hospitals in Denmark to private homes in Poland, rural villages in Ethiopia, marketplaces in Cambodia, cities in Indonesia, and the financial sector in Australia. Her work centres around the use of participatory design and co-design methods to develop new technologies and services for marginalised and vulnerable groups.

This is an informal session (not a webinar!).

We encourage participants to share their development experiences and contribute to the discussion.

Join members of the Melbourne Development Circle community for an informal online discussion about how International Development practitioners (and researchers) are adapting, innovating and reacting to the challenges of work in this moment. We know that COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the sector, and will continue to do so for some time, and the impacts are being felt around the world. This event will provide the chance for those involved in the sector to connect, share experiences and ideas about how we can all adjust and find a new way of working and collaborating into the future.
