Melbourne Design Week Ephemeral Ebb Kirinuku Vessels Workshop
Description
Kayleigh is an artist, educator and art therapist living and working on Wurundjeri Country. Kayleigh has been a practicing artist for 15 years and teaching ceramics to adults and children for 5 years.
In this workshop, we explore carving and slicing as a way of coming to form.
Attention is placed on what can be taken away to reveal shape and surface. Through observation, editing, and moments of risk, the vessel emerges through subtraction.
Traces of confidence and hesitation remain in grooves, ridges, and incisions, forming a striking, cliff-like terrain.
There will be light refreshments, and snacks provided,
Each person will make 2 pieces, a carved cup and a candle holder.
The pieces will be finished and fired in Brunswick and will be available for collection from Brunswick 4-6 weeks after the workshop.
This workshop is suitable for total beginners, aged 15+, people under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Dexterity and fine motor skills are needed as we will be using sharp tools.
