Meadowbank St Johns Residents Association Meet the Candidates Indoors Street Corners

Here’s your chance to meet all five of our parliamentary candidates for the Tāmaki electorate. This will be a unique occasion and brings together the candidates for ACT, Labour, National, The Greens, and The Opportunity Party.

We want it to be interactive. So we’ve planned an event where you’ll get to hear from each of them, and ask your own questions, “street corner” style. But indoors, in the evening, warm and dry. With comfy chairs. And hot drinks and snacks. Our Auckland Councillors and Ōrākei Board elected representatives will be join us as well. What’s not to like?

Here’s how it’s going to work…

After a welcome and an introduction from your Residents Association, we’ll hear from each of the candidates – but not too much, they’ll only have 90 seconds each!

Then we’ll split into five groups, each one with a moderator from the Residents Association, and head to one of five “street corners” around the St Chads conference rooms. Our candidates will rotate around and come to each street corner.

Each candidate will have 12 minutes with each group. (We’ll have a bell to keep things moving)! They’ll be primed to give their thoughts and to answer your questions and concerns on each of three themes that we know are important to our community.

• Infrastructure and transport

• Housing and urban development

• The cost of living and sustainability

To wrap-up, we’ll re-convene and invite each of our candidates to tell us one thing they would like to share with the whole group, and one thing they’ve learned from meeting with us.

Finally, we’ll serve tea, coffee and snacks and we can mix and mingle. With our parliamentary candidates, with our councillors, elected reps and each other.
