Asking for Accommodations in Hospital

Virtual Medical MyTime

About this event

Are you a parent or carer of a child with disability, developmental delay, or autism who requires frequent hospital stays? Do you find it challenging to ensure your child's unique needs are met in a medical setting?

Join our peer group discussion to hear from an  experienced parent who will share their personal advocacy journey. Learn strategies for communicating your child's needs to medical staff, requesting necessary accommodations, and navigating the complexities of hospital stays. They’ll  offer valuable insights and practical tips based on their own experiences. There will be an opportunity to ask questions, share your own challenges, and learn from others who understand the unique challenges.

This event is facilitated by Pam

Pam lives in Canberra with her husband Tom and their four children. Their nine-year-old son, Christopher, was born with Congenital Cytomegalovirus. They enjoy spending quality time together as a family, creating special memories and raising compassionate humans. Pam is passionate about empowering new mothers and carers to own their choices.

She is currently studying to become a qualified birth, postpartum, and end-of-life doula to work closely with and better support families facing difficult diagnoses in utero, neonatally, and beyond.

Who is this event for?

Medical MyTime is for parents and carers who are navigating the health and medical systems with a child with disability, developmental delay or autism.

During a MyTime session, there is a guided discussion and a space to connect with other families. These discussions offer an opportunity for parents and caregivers to share and learn from each other.
