About this event
Join this Medical MyTime session with Janet Burke, a Child Life Therapist from Sydney Children’s Hospital. It’s a chance to ask questions, share your own experiences navigating the healthcare system with your child, and learn more about how Child Life Therapists can support families.Â
Whether you're curious about what Child Life Therapists do, how they help, or how to access their services, this peer group discussion is designed for you to connect and learn alongside other family’s walking a similar path.
About Janet Burke
Janet is a Child Life Therapist and university qualified counsellor with her own private practise. Janet has extensive experience in helping to prepare children for medical procedures and treatments. As well as providing emotional support to families navigating medical anxiety.
This event is facilitated by Pam
Pam lives in Canberra with her husband Tom and their four children. Their nine-year-old son, Christopher, was born with Congenital Cytomegalovirus. They enjoy spending quality time together as a family, creating special memories and raising compassionate humans. Pam is passionate about empowering new mothers and carers to own their choices.Â
She is currently studying to become a qualified birth, postpartum, and end-of-life doula to work closely with and better support families facing difficult diagnoses in utero, neonatally, and beyond.
Who is this event for?
Medical MyTime is for parents and carers who are navigating the health and medical systems with a child with disability, developmental delay or autism.
During a MyTime session, there is a guided discussion and a space to connect with other families. These discussions offer an opportunity for parents and caregivers to share and learn from each other.
