The Medicinal Cannabis Meetup is a structured group discussion aiming to provide support and guidance for individuals who use legally obtained medicinal cannabis.

Since the reclassification by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Cannabis as a legal medicine in late 2016 there has been limited opportunity for an unbiased public forum where people can get together and talk openly about their experiences with cannabis. The Transparent Company hopes to promote a safe, non-judgmental adult conversational space where participants can openly share their cannabis experiences, insights, challenges, and emotions. This meetup will be facilitated by Voytek Bereza a GPhC-licenced (UK pharmacy regulatory body) facilitator who has a wide understanding of psychoactive compounds and their potential effects.

Participation during the event is optional, however, it is hoped that attendees will take turns sharing their experiences and reflections, allowing others to listen attentively without interruption or judgment. The focus is on providing emotional support, developing community, offering different perspectives, and sharing practical tools. The meetup may involve various aspects, including:

Understanding the experience: Participants share their interpretations and insights gained from their use of cannabis. They may explore the science behind the medicines and feelings or personal revelations that emerged during their use.
Cannabinoids: Explanation of primary cannabinoids like THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol), their effects on the human body, and their therapeutic properties.
Medicinal Benefits: Discussion on the potential benefits of medicinal cannabis, including pain management, alleviation of anxiety and depression, and its use in conditions like epilepsy and multiple sclerosis.
Challenges and difficulties: Participants may share any challenges or difficulties they encountered surrounding their cannabis use.
Support and community: Meetups foster a sense of community and connection among individuals who have had similar experiences. Participants can offer support, validation, and encouragement to one another, reducing feelings of isolation and normalizing the integration process.

It's important to note that Cannabis Meetups are not intended to replace professional therapy or counselling. They serve as a supplemental support system and community for individuals who have used cannabis medicinally. Seeking professional guidance from licensed therapists or counsellors with expertise in cannabis-assisted psychotherapy can be beneficial for more complex needs.
