Medicine in the Maldives 2025
Event description
I'm hosting a small-group medical update meeting at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island over 5 days, with topics of interest for all doctors (and other healthcare professionals), from Nov 24th to 28th 2025.
Conference Overview
This conference is a small group meeting of healthcare and medical specialists, with an aim to deliver attendees an update on various fields of interest to a wide medical audience. It is hoped that attendees will use the conference to deliver an educational talk on their own area/s of special interest or experience, while being educated on by their colleagues in other disciplines, at a level relevant to everyday practice for sub specialists and general practitioners alike. In the case of over subscribed registrations, preference will be given to attendees who are willing to give a talk, as otherwise we would have nothing to fill the schedule with. Please contact me if this is an issue for you.
A secondary aim is to allow speakers a gentle introduction into conference speaking and education delivery in a safe and supportive environment in an effort to improve the medical education experience for seniors, DiTs and medical students.
The final aim is to facilitate health collegiate networks across the country. Learning from each other without regard to seniority or specialisation can assist the delivery of health care at all levels. To this end we include interactive evening networking sessions as an important part of our conference timetable.
Conference talks will be held in the hotel rooms, beachside and at restaurant venues over breakfast for a more casual atmosphere. There are no conference facilities on the island so a standard hotel room will be the primary venue, with seating quite informal. If space issues arise all talks will have a handout on the key takeaway points. If there is demand (and at additional cost) we will hold one or more of the sessions on a sunset dolphin cruise or similar outing. Talks will be held at varying times each day to allow attendees time to sample the wonderful venue facilities.
We aim for around 22.5 hours of educational content over the 5 days (4.5hrs a day average), however the timetable will continue to vary until all talk topics are finalised and the hotel monthly planner is released in late October 2025, at the earliest.
Please note that registration includes no meals nor accommodation or transport. Non medical parters do not need paid registration and are able to attend the conference dinner if there is space (almost certainly will be). Our conference dinner will hopefully be held at the famous Ithaa underwater restaurant! (additional cost)

As the hotel is rather expensive, please email me or see the "Medical update meetings" group on facebook for information on how to obtain a room at a more affordable rate (buying points on sale for use in booking rooms).
