"A calm, hugely valuable break."
"When we're all so busy with work and other demands, the short break to focus on oneself was hugely valuable. Brian has a calm way of taking the sessions which made them all the more effective."

Your mind won't stop. You are mid-conversation and already three steps ahead, rehearsing what you'll say next, replaying what you said an hour ago. You lie down at night and the thinking doesn't lie down with you. You've tried "just relaxing." It hasn't worked, because relaxing was never the instruction your nervous system needed.
This isn't a discipline problem. A busy mind is what happens when the nervous system doesn't know it's safe to stop scanning, and no amount of willpower fixes a nervous system state. What does work is training: specific, repeatable, mind-body practices that give your mind somewhere else to go.
Meditation for Busy Minds is a 4-session course for people who've tried meditation apps, read the books, maybe even sat a few times and still find their mind running the show.
Across four weeks, you'll learn why the racing-mind pattern happens, how to work with it through thoughts, breath, body and sound rather than against it through force, and how to build a practice that survives contact with an actual busy week.
This isn't about achieving a blank mind - that was never the goal, and chasing it is part of what's kept you stuck. It's about changing your relationship to thought: noticing it, regulating around it and with it, and building a nervous system that can rest even when the to-do list doesn't.
Drawing on Polyvagal Theory and contemporary nervous system research alongside meditation methods with a lineage stretching back through Tibetan Buddhist practice, this course pairs the science of why your mind races with ancient wisdom practices that have been tested for centuries.
Format: 4 weekly sessions on Wednesday evenings, in person at The Life Centre, 86 Jervois Road, Ponsonby.
