Event description

Kerryn Phelps, MP in conversation hosted by Georgie Dent

Join Women for Election Australia on Wednesday May 8th 2019, for the first in a series of events, where we invite you to meet Australia’s female politicians.

For our inaugural event Georgie Dent from Women's Agenda interviews Kerryn Phelps, Independent, Member for Wentworth, who is the most recent addition to Australia’s Parliament.

Kerryn will discuss all things related to her experience of running for public office, including the journey of being a local government Councillor to a Federal MP. She will provide insight into the skill sets she uses in her role and why it’s more important than ever that women engage in the political process.

This is a close-up look at what really happens in ‘the House’.

If you are considering stepping up one day this is your opportunity to meet and question someone who is doing the job right now.

Only 37% of candidates running for the Lower House from the major parties this election are women*. We must have a more representative government.

Women for Election Australia [WFEA] is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organisation who help women get elected. Please note this is a fundraising event and 100% of the ticket revenue will fund future WFEA training events.

If time permits stay on after the event and enjoy some drinks and canapes in a networking environment at the District Brasserie.

Don’t miss out, get your tickets today – WFEA events are popular and often sell out.

See you on May 8th 2019 at 5.30 pm arrival for sharp 6.00 pm start.
