    Come meet Rebecca McGarrity from 5pm-6pm on September the 11th in room 537, building 39a at St Lucia. These 'Meet the Practitioner' events presents both undergraduate and postgraduate students with the opportunity to engage with industry representatives and discuss career orientated questions. 

    About Rebecca McGarrity:

    PSM, Deputy Director-General, Policy Division, The Cabinet Office, Department of the Premier and Cabinet.

    Rebecca McGarrity has more than 20 years’ experience in the Queensland public sector. In her current role as Deputy Director-General, Policy Division, in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Rebecca is responsible for providing policy advice for the Premier on key issues including social, economic, environmental and legal policy, and providing high level strategic advice to the Premier and Cabinet on the implementation of key government decisions.

    Rebecca has been responsible for a range of policy portfolios in the Division, including counter terrorism, police, disaster management, health, disability services, resources, state development, environment, innovation, and energy. She has also previously worked for Queensland’s public sector integrity body, the Crime and Corruption Commission, and private sector law firms in Australia and the United Kingdom.

    Rebecca has been the recipient of the Harvard Club of Australia’s Wolfensohn Scholarship (2018) and was awarded a Public Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours (June 2019) ‘for outstanding public service to social policy development in Queensland’.
