2025 Theme: Connecting With Our Space

The next Meeting in the Middle (MiM) Forum will be held in Melbourne, VIC, on May 23rd and 24th, 2025.

Meeting in the Middle (MiM) is a forum for educators working in Montessori Adolescent Programs throughout Australasia. In 2025, we invite adolescent educators to convene at Melbourne Montessori College (MMC) and Templestowe College (TC) in Melbourne to share ideas and practices pertinent to Montessori adolescent programs.

Accommodation:

We have secured a discounted rate at Caroline Serviced Apartments in Brighton. This is close to Melbourne Montessori College as well as the beach, supermarkets, and restaurants. The discount applies from May 19th-28th to allow people to stay longer if they like.

Call for Presentations:

MiM thrives on the connection and sharing by adolescent educators of their practice. Using the theme of 'Connecting With Our Space', you are encouraged to share stories and experiences of your local programmes, whether they are rural, urban, or integrated spaces. You might also consider how you use the more expansive physical environments and facilitate this connection through excursions, etc. The possibilities are endless!

Transport:

Bus transport will be provided between Caroline Serviced Apartments and the MiM locations on Friday and Saturday.

Optional Activity – Sunday, 25 May

We are looking into a small Sunday morning activity to allow attendees to continue the connection and networking opportunities the Meeting in the Middle Forum provides. When booking, please let us know if you are interested in this. A small additional cost will be applicable. Further details will be provided shortly.

About Meeting in the Middle:

Meeting in the Middle is a grassroots initiative, with practitioners in Montessori Adolescent Programs coming together to share ideals, ideas and practice. It is built on the belief that we have much to learn from and much support and inspiration to offer each other. Our MAPs are built on common key principles yet are unique and creative reflections of our contexts. We share many similar issues and tensions, and we’ve tackled these in various ways. It is always revitalising to have these conversations with one another.

About Us

MSCA (sounds like MISS-kuh) is a registered charity serving the community as the national NFP, member-based representative body for Montessori schools and centres. MSCA is the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Affiliated Society for Australia.

Since our inception, we have established an annual series of in-person and online events that engage and inspire the Australian Montessori community. They’ve set themselves apart as ones people don't want to miss! These events provide professional development, inspirational thought leadership, parent education, and opportunities for various community stakeholders to connect, collaborate and educate each other.

Online Events

Each year, we hold at least 25 to 30 online events with an average annual attendance of nearly 700 leaders, educators, parents and others within the Montessori community and beyond. These events, including webinars, workshops, and networking groups, connect principals, educators, owner-operators, parents, board directors, and thought leaders, fostering a collaborative environment for growth and development in the education sector.

In-Person Events

We also host three in-person events annually: two small, dedicated forums for school principals and adolescent (secondary) educators, and the Grassroots Conference, which is our biggest event of the year for all Montessori educators and leaders.
