Meetings That Matter: Design a meeting you'd love to attend (13 September - NZ AM)

Event description

Most meeting-related training focuses on optimising for time or content – whether it’s agenda-setting, minute-taking, turn-taking, Zoom-running, or something else. And while those things are helpful and necessary, it’s possible to nail them all and still run a meeting where everyone wishes they were somewhere else.

We focus on the human experience and help you design from there.

How do you want to feel in this meeting? How do you want your people to feel – Productive / Energised / Creative / Focused ?

I don’t know anyone who designs a meeting for people to feel despondent or deflated, yet so many meetings leave people in that state. (How many times have you thought to yourself “that’s an hour of my life I’m not getting back…” at the end of yet another meeting?)

If you don’t design for the experience you WANT to have, the default is often not pretty.

Stop running meetings that require meetings after meetings for valuable work to happen and start imagining what life would be like if your meeting wasn’t compulsory but everyone turned up because it was absolutely unmissable! (Would they turn up if it was optional?)

By the end of this fast-paced workshop, you will have:

  • increased self-awareness, empathy, and emotional literacy – essential for good meeting design
  • a framework for designing meetings people love to attend
  • applied what you’ve learnt to redesigning an existing meeting or designing a new one

If you want to look forward to meetings and confidently ask people for their time knowing you’re not going to waste it, this workshop is for you.

PS - if it seems odd to spend money learning how to design a meeting you'd love to attend... what's it costing you (and others) to go to meetings you'd rather not attend? 🤷🏼‍♀️
