Imagine a future where Melbourne’s green spaces thrive, adapting to the challenges of a changing climate while fostering biodiversity, vibrant public spaces, and cultural connection. The new 18,000sqm urban garden, Laak Boorndap, will provide exactly that. This Melbourne Conversations event invites you to a visionary discussion on the role of design and innovation in shaping sustainable urban environments.

The panel will be hosted by Acting Executive Director, Engagement and Impact at Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, Émer Harrington and includes internationally renowned horticulturalist Professor James Hitchmough and Principal of HASSELL, Jon Hazelwood. They will be joined by leaders in urban ecology and design who are exploring innovative approaches to sustainable green spaces, Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri creative and founder of Kalinya Studios, Jirra Lulla Harvey and Director of University of Melbourne’s Burnley Campus, Claire Farrell.

This event offers pop-up activities, curated borrowable resources from the City of Melbourne Libraries, and catering from STREAT – a social enterprise championing sustainability and inclusivity.

Be part of this important conversation and help shape a future where Melbourne’s green spaces remain vibrant, resilient, and inclusive for generations to come.

This Melbourne Conversations event is presented through a partnership between City of Melbourne and the Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation (MAP Co), which is overseeing the delivery of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation including Laak Boorndap.
