    Don’t miss Melbourne Jewish Book Week’s inaugural literary dinner with our sensational guest of honour all the way from New York, Eleanor Reissa — award-winning actress, songstress, director, playwright and author, in conversation with MC, Gary Abrahams, Executive Director of Kadimah Yiddish Theatre.


    About Eleanor Reissa
    Eleanor Reissa is a storyteller in English and Yiddish - her first language. She is an award-winning director and playwright, actress, singer, translator, choreographer, and published author. She was last seen on Broadway in Paula Vogel’s Indecent. On screen she stars as Lilka Zweifler, the matriarch in The Zweiflers, winner of the ‘Cannes TV Series award 2024'. Her plays have been collected in an anthology The Last Survivor and Other Modern Jewish Plays. She has sung in every major venue in New York and international festivals around the world.


    Brooklyn born-and-bred and daughter of Holocaust fighters, her memoir, The Letters Project: A Daughter’s Journey, is a search to discover the truth about her father, a slave in Auschwitz, as well as the truth about herself.

    About Gary Abrahams
    Gary is the Executive Director of Kadimah Yiddish Theatre and a freelance Director and Playwright. He has directed the Australian premieres and National tours of several large-scale commercial shows, as well as classic texts, contemporary plays, new Australian scripts, and devised projects. He recently won the Green Room Award for Outstanding Playwriting for ‘Yentl’ and has twice won the Green Room Award for Outstanding Direction.
