Melbourne - Overview of the Participants Journey
Event description
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) invites people with disability, families and carers to attend information sessions to learn more about the participant journey at the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Three different sessions will be delivered, face to face, in each capital city over a day, exploring different topics. You are welcome to attend all three, or just one
Making connections and applying to the NDIS
10.00am - 11.00am AEST
This session would benefit people with disability (aged 9 to 64) applying to the NDIS or wanting to explore supports in their local community.
The session will cover:
- How the NDIS supports people with disability
- Role of the Local Area Coordinator (LAC)
- Community connections
- Community connections plans
- How community connections work
Creating an NDIS plan
12.00pm - 1.00pm AEST
The session will cover:
- The principle we follow to create NDIS plans
- Reasonable and necessary supports
- Preparing for a planning meeting or conversation
- Plan durations and other guidance
Using and changing an NDIS plan
2.00pm - 3.00pm AEST
The session will cover:
- What to expect at a plan implementation meeting
- Support budgets and how this funding can be used
- How to manage the plan budget
- How changes are made to NDIS plans
- Plan variations and plan reassessments
Auslan Interpreters will be available for these sessions.
Registrations close one business day prior to the session date or once tickets have sold out. We only accept individual registrations for events to ensure all attendees receive links to join.
The day before the event, a reminder email will be sent to the email address you provide at registration, so please ensure you enter your email address correctly when registering.
Accessibility is important to us. If you have accessibility requirements, please advise when registering. A minimum of five business days' notice is required to book Auslan interpreters and live captioning services.
Please note: If you have requested accessibility services, these services are provided by an external provider. Your personal details will be given to the Accessibility Service at the time of booking.
