Melbourne Rare Books Week 2025: Carole Wilson's Archive of Political Posters

Join us during Melbourne Rare Book Week 2025 for a collection viewing of Carole Wilson's collection of political posters. The collection includes original design process work relating to Wilson's work with two print collectives, Jillposters (1983-1987) and Another Planet Posters (1984-1991).
Our guest speaker is Sarah Murphy, Troppo Print Studio

Visual artist Carole Wilson’s original training was in printmaking, and she was a founding member of Jillposters, feminist poster group in 1983, and worked at Another Planet Posters. In 2023 Carole Wilson donated an archive of her design process as well as reports, correspondence, media clippings relating to her work with Jill Posters and Another Planet Posters to the RMIT Design Archives.
Sarah Murphy leads Troppo Print Studio, in partnership with Matt Feder. The studio is a socially orientated print space, where Sarah and Matt encourage the practice of printmaking through mid-century and contemporary techniques such as hand-drawn positives or digitally manipulated imagery. In 2024 Troppo presented Future Foundations combines and celebrates past, present, and future ideas in political poster & print making. Bringing together Australian print collectives and individuals from foundational to contemporary practice. Sarah Murphy teaches screen printing at VCA and holds a Master of Fine Arts from RMIT, 2020 and a Bachelor of Fashion Design CSM (UAL), 2008.
