WHAT TO EXPECT

This trail is roughly 7.5km long and will take around 3.5 hours to complete depending on our pace. Overall, this is a great trail for beginners and newbies wanting to give walking a go while also having a great chance of spotting some iconic native Australian animals. This trail is packed full of amazing native fauna and flora.

One of the best things about Braeside Park is its peaceful, natural beauty, especially the wide variety of birdlife and its tranquil wetland areas. The park features a mix of woodlands, grasslands, and wetlands, making it a great spot for nature walks, birdwatching, and picnics. It's an urban oasis that feels a world away from the hustle and bustle, offering a refreshing escape while still being close to Melbourne. The diversity of wildlife and the well-maintained walking trails make it a standout for nature lovers.

We will aim to finish the hike around 1:30pm back where we started and close by getting some lunch and a drink at the Dingley Hotel.

All ages and fitness levels are welcome to this event.

START TIME AND MEET LOCATION

MEETING LOCATION: Kestrel carpark 2, Braeside Park

MEETING TIME: Arrive between 10:00am - 10:20am to meetup for a 10:30am sharp Departure.

NOTE: Arriving on time is critical to the Walk getting away on time. Participants not checked-in by 10:20 may be left behind.

CARPOOLING: Need help finding a ride to the hike, feel free to post in the Melbourne Social Walks Facebook Group.

WHAT TO BRING

- Water (at least 2-3L)

- Snack food for the hike

- Money for pub (optional)

WHAT TO WEAR

- Comfortable Walking Shoes

- Comfortable Weather Suitable Clothing (check weather on the day).

- Hat / Beanie

FINISH

The Hike should take around 3.5 hours with small breaks to enjoy some sightseeing and wildlife spotting.

The walk starts and finishes in the same location.
