WHAT TO EXPECT

The Olinda Falls Loop is a stunning mountain trail that takes you directly through the Dandenong Ranges National Park. The walk will take you underneath towering Mountain Ash trees, lush fern forests and incredilble native Australian habitat. At approx 12km long the trek includes around 500m of elevation. It is a great moderate/hard hike that will challenge participants.

Dandenong Ranges National park is also packed full of native Australian wildlife, with plenty of Kangaroos, Wallabies, Cockatoos and Kookaburras present and on a good day, you may even see the elusive native Lyrebird!

The trek will be moderate to hard in difficulty. There will be one particular section of steep incline about halfway into the hike.

Once the hike is finished we will make our way to a nearby café for a much needed coffee!

START TIME AND MEET LOCATION

Meeting Location: Olinda Falls Carpark (Olinda Falls Reserve, Falls Rd, Mount Dandenong VIC 3788)

Meeting Time: Arrive 9:30am for a strict 09:50am Departure.

NOTE: Arriving on time is critical to the Walk getting away on time. Participants not checked-in by 9:50am may be left behind.
CARPOOLING: Need help getting a lift to the hike, feel free to post in the Melbourne Social Walks Facebook Group

WHAT TO BRING

- Water (at least 2L)

- Snack food for the walk if necessary

- Money for the café afterwards

WHAT TO WEAR

- Comfortable walking shoes (the track will be wet and muddy)

- Weather suitable clothing (check weather the night before)

- Hat or Beanie

FINISH

The Hike should take around 2.5 - 3 hours with small breaks in-between to enjoy some sightseeing and to do some animal spotting.

We will finish where we started where we can all head off to meat again for coffee at a local Mt Dandenong café (venue TBA).
