Join Dan as we explore the incredible Lightscape Melbourne at the Royal Botanical Gardens as well as a short walk to the Queen Victoria Gardens and the Walker Fountain! Entry to Lightscape is included with your ticket.

WHAT TO EXPECT

For a very limited time we are treated to a unique experience here in Melbourne. When the sun goes down different coloured lights cascade through the trees of the Royal Botanic Gardens in an incredible immersive experience that is sure to impress. Lightscape promises to be an unmissable spectacle!

The group, will meet at the Shrine of Remembrance to stretch the legs and explore the memorial, as well as the Queen Victoria Gardens before being dazzled by the gorgeous lights of Lightscape at the Botanic Gardens (entry into Lightscape Melbourne is included in your ticket).

The night won't be too difficult as it is all flat with many times to stop and get those incredible instagramable pictures, you are craving. All up there will be roughly 5km covered.

The trail should take us around 2 - 2.5 hours to complete, depending on our pace, and includes the Shrine of Remembrance, gorgeous city views, the Walker Fountain in Kings Domain, Queen Victoria Gardens and the dazzling Lightscape Melbourne at the Royal Botanic Gardens.

After the hike we will all gather and go to a pub to cap the night off with a nice drink and cheers.

All ages and fitness levels are welcome to this event.

START TIME AND MEET LOCATION

MEETING LOCATION: Outside the Shrine of Remembrance on the Birdwood St side.

MEETING TIME: Arrive between 6:00 and 6:15 SHARP to meetup and check in for an 6:30am sharp Departure (Plan to arrive early and give yourself extra time for parking and finding the group).

NOTE: Arriving on time is critical for the event starting on time. Participants not checked-in by 6:20 may be left behind.

PARKING: There is ticketed parking along Birdwood St.

CARPOOLING: Need help finding a ride to the hike? Feel free to post in the Melbourne Social Walks Facebook Group.

WHAT TO BRING

- Water (at least 1-2L)

- Snack food for the hike

- Money for pub/café afterwards (optional)

WHAT TO WEAR

- Comfortable walking shoes.

- Comfortable Weather Suitable Clothing.

- Bring a jacket as it could get fresh.

FINISH

This trip will run from 6:00pm where we will do a walk around the Shrine of Remembrance and surrounding areas before heading into the Botanic Gardens for the Lightscape Melbourne experience. We should finish around 8:30pm depending on the pace of the group (and amount of photos we take). Afterwards we will get a drink and wrap up at the pub.

Due to the high costs of organising pre-paid tickets to Lightscape Melbourne, there is a strict cancellation period. No cancellations with-in 5 days of the departure. Tickets can be re-sold though.
