It's time for another camping trip on the Murray River out to the north of Victoria in GUNBOWER.
Numbers are strictly capped for this event so grab your ticket quickly if you are keen to join us!

WHAT TO EXPECT
Gunbower is an excellent destination for camping due to its natural beauty and the campspot located right on the Murray River.
- Scenic Natural Environment: Gunbower is surrounded by lush forests, wetlands, and rivers, offering campers a picturesque setting. The Gunbower National Park, with its expansive river red gum forests and wetland ecosystems, provides a stunning backdrop for outdoor activities.
- Wildlife and Birdwatching: Gunbower is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The park is home to various species of birds as well as native animals like kangaroos and koalas.
- Peaceful Atmosphere: One of Gunbower's main attractions is its peaceful and relatively secluded atmosphere. The area's quiet environment makes it an ideal spot for relaxation, offering campers the opportunity to disconnect from the stresses of modern life and immerse themselves in nature.

THE HIKES
Hike 1 (Saturday) - Mount Hope - Moderate 6.4kms - 170M Elevation
Hike 2 (Sunday) - Koondrook Turtle Loop - Moderate 13.2kms - 192M Elevations
Please note - A good level of fitness is required for these hikes.
START TIME AND MEET LOCATION
Meeting Location: St Albans Station Carpark.
Meeting Time: Arrive between 8:30am-8:50am for a 9:00am Sharp Departure.
NOTE: The Train Station is only the meeting location. We will be driving to Gunbower by Car. Arriving on time is critical to the Event getting away on time. Participants not check-in by 8:50am may be left behind.
CARPOOLING: Need help finding a ride to the hike, feel free to post in the Melbourne Social Walks Facebook Group.
WHAT TO BRING
- Water (at least 4-6L) - Water is not available at the camp site.
- Lunches and Snack food for both days/hikes
- BYO Dinner or Money for Pub Dinner on the Saturday night in Echuca
- BYO Breakfast for Sunday morning or Money for a Café breakfast in Gunbower.
- BYO Camping Equipment (Tent, Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Sleeping Mat, Camping Chair, Head Lamp/torch)
WHAT TO WEAR
- Comfortable Walking Shoes
- Comfortable Weather Suitable Clothing for 2 Days - Be prepared for cold weather conditions (check weather the night before)
- Hat / Sunglasses & Sun Protection / Beanie
- Bathers & Towel for a cold swim in the Murray
FINISH
Plan for two full days of adventuring!
We will aim to leave the final hiking location at 5:00pm and return to Melbourne around 8:30pm -the event times are not always perfect, so please allow for a later return time.
