WHAT TO EXPECT

You Yangs Regional Park is located in southern central Victoria, Australia, approximately 60 km southwest of Melbourne. The park encompasses much of the southern areas of the You Yangs, a granite range that rises from the surrounding Werribee Plains overlooking Melbourne.

The area holds a deep cultural importance for the local indigenous Aboriginal people. The name "You Yang" is derived from their language, meaning "big mountain in the middle of a plain".

START TIME AND MEET LOCATION

Meeting Location: South MTB car park - You Yangs

Meeting Time: Arrive 10:00am for a strict 10:30am Departure.

Parking options: There is plenty of free parking at the meeting location.

NOTE: Arriving on time is critical to the Walk getting away on time. Participants not checked-in by 10:20am may be left behind.

CARPOOLING: Need help getting a lift to the hike, feel free to post in the Melbourne Social Walks Facebook Group

WHAT TO BRING

- Water (at least 2L)

- Snacks/food for the hike

- Money for lunch afterwards

WHAT TO WEAR

- Comfortable sturdy walking shoes

- Weather suitable clothing (check weather the night before)

- Hat or Beanie / Sun Protection

FINISH

The Hike should take around 3 - 3.5 hours with some small breaks to enjoy the scenery as well as a stop for picnic lunch.
