Member Excursion: Sanborn Mills Farm
Event description
Join the New Hampshire Historical Society for a day on the farm! This year's member tour visits Sanborn Mills Farm, a 250-year-old property located in Loudon. During the past 30 years, Society trustee Colin Cabot and wife Paula have created here a center for traditional crafts and agriculture while pursuing modern goals of sustainability.
Schedule
10 a.m. Meet in the Great Room at Sanborn Mills Farm to learn about the farm’s history.
10:30 a.m. Tour the gristmill, sawmill, blacksmith shop, and a craft demonstration.
11:30 a.m. Enjoy a garden tour.
12 p.m. Lunch in the dining room.
12:45 p.m. Go on a historic building tour and watch a demonstration of farm equipment.
2 p.m. Visit the Red House and Merrill Farm to see animals and vegetable gardens (optional).
Note: Attendees must be able to walk a mile over uneven surfaces. Many of the roads and paths at the farm are not paved.
