As part of Heritage Festival 2023, Te Pūtahi Centre For Architecture and City Making has designed a hands-on activity to explore this year’s theme: Our Stories of Living and Learning.

Come along and co-create a map of learning memories in the city. Bring along your childhood recollections of spaces and places where you learnt something new and throw them into the mix - these do not need to be Christchurch-specific. This might be the place where you learnt to ride a bike, whistle a tune, bake a cake, catch the bus or read a book - anything goes.

This guided workshop has been designed for all ages and abilities. Families, friends, and neighbours are encouraged to join in and be a part of the Christchurch community ‘Memory Map of Learning’.

By taking part in this one-hour facilitated session, participants will have the opportunity to:

Be a part of a group, sharing memories and creative ideas with other people.
Gain access to additional creative materials for collaging, drawing and more
Learn from an expert in architectural design and education
Get additional support from facilitators, volunteers and other community members

Workshops will be led by Rosie Murphy, an architectural educator and designer. Rosie recently moved to Christchurch from London, UK, bringing with her a wealth of experience in youth and community engagement; learning and education in architecture; and sustainable, equitable and inclusive design practice. With Rosie’s expertise and enthusiasm, participants will have the guidance they need to explore memories of learning, unlocking their creative potential to share these memories with the whole Ōtautahi Christchurch community.

Do book in for the one-hour workshop as tickets are limited.

People are also welcome to simply drop in and join in the activity on these same dates, between 10.30am-2.30pm.

Young folk under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
