Wyong Anglican Church Men's Mental Health Dinner
Event description
Wyong Anglican Church Men's Ministry Team is holding a Men's Dinner with the focus on Men's Mental Health.
Our guest speaker is the Reverend Doctor Keith Condie, the Co-founder and Co-Director of the Mental Health and Pastoral Care Institute connected with Mary Andrew's College in Sydney. Keith has degrees in psychology, theology and history. He has worked in child welfare for the state government as well as serving as an assistant minister in two churches in Sydney. For nearly 20 years, he was on the faculty at Moore Theological College as Dean of Students and lecturer in ministry and church history. Keith has researched and written extensively on this subject and has earned enormous respect from those in the field.
Despite being 'the luck country', men's mental ill-health remains high among Australian men. COVID has not helped this situation. Now the rising cost of living, housing pressures and financial stress are not helping either. The number of men who die by suicide in Australia every year, is nearly double the national road toll. We need to see men's health as the important issue that it is.
We are hosting this event because we care about men, their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual selves and want to support them to do life well.
