Event description

Join Dr. Niveditha Manokaran and Mrs Uthra Simhan over a hearty lunch as they join hands together to bring awareness and change by saying : Men's Mental Health is important too

I AM ONLY HUMAN AFTER ALL
Let him know it's okay to cry
Let him know hugs and kisses are fine
Let him know it's okay to let down his guard
Heart that shares and mind that seeks succeeds
No matter how hard
A cocooned moth never learns to fly
He who faces his fears is NO LESS OF A MAN than many who forbids

We want to let the men know and accept that " IT's OK ", "IT's Ok TO BE YOU" , IT'S OK TO CRY”. Men often feel unheard and are hesitant to seek help.

It is proven that built up emotions, hidden and unleashed anger, and resentment are some of the causes behind agressive human behaviour. It is also true that this kind of behaviour is one of the major causes of Domestic violence in a relationship. Women are more accepting of their emotional side and are able to show their emotions externally and the society has accepted women can cry. This is probably one of the reasons behind, why women were also labeled fragile. As crying was associated with fragility and piling up emotions within was believed as strength, men unfortunately have been pushed by the society to exhibit strength in this way. Research has show that one of the prevention strategies of DV is  proactive and preventative Psycology and the encouraging adolescent boys in recognising their emotions and feelings and finding a safe space to share them.

Please join us to meet  professionals from different walks of life, who will help us understand, that  men don't have to be the sole person to carry the burden of emotions secretly but can let go and be vulnerable as well. This will help us all unlearn the social burden that society has embarked upon men for centuries.
