    Event description

    There's nothing more liberating than shedding off your clothing and moving through a yoga class completely naked. 

    The practice of yoga frees us from the layer of ego, and there's something special about the connection naked yoga brings with like-minded individuals. Join me through a flow that takes you through variations of strength and stillness as we explore the limits of our bodies. We'll open with some powerful movements to build stamina and awareness, then close with some calm and relaxed movements to bring that awareness more inward.

    Self-conscious or worried you may feel a little "happy"? No need to stress. People of all ages, shapes, and backgrounds are welcome to join, and there's no need to be embarrassed if you're excited to be there.

    Following class, join us for a social hour to hang out, chat, and build community! Please bring along a bottle of wine or a snack to contribute <3

    Although I welcome and encourage all levels, please note the first half of class can be a little bit challenging, and the focus of the month changes every time we start a new month. It's all good if you're newer to yoga! There are props to help you out and modifications are available to help you find the poses. Don't hesitate to come up to me before class if you think you'll need some extra attention!

    Most importantly, no matter who you are, just have fun, play around with some new movements, and let go of your inhibitions as you journey through the yin and the yang of yoga.

    *Bring towels, mats, water, and any props that may support your practice most. We do have mats and blocks available at no cost if you need.

    December Theme: Solstice Transitions

    Focus: Working up to 108 Sun Salutations

    Sun salutations are one of the most basic and common practices in yoga. It consists of moving from Donward Dog to a Forward Fold, up to a Mountain Pose with a Baby Backbend, followed by a Chaturanga vinyasa flow. It's commonly done at the end of the warm-up in most standard vinyasa and power classes. 

    In yoga, it is also customary at times to practice 108 sun salutations during the changing of the seasons. This year, my final class of the month, as well as my final class of the year, falls right before the winter solstice, and I wanted to bring this focus in for the month.

    If you're intimidated by the 108 number, don't be! I promise it is more accessible than it seems, and I'll offer plenty of modifications along the way.

    Here's a further breakdown of what to expect:

    Week One: 36 Sun Salutations, Vinyasa Practice, Yin

    In the first week, we'll tackle 36 rounds of Sun Salutations just to introduce you to the idea of repeating them over and over. The sets are broken up into three rounds of twelve. In the first set, we'll spend the first six rounds going over all the possible modifications slowly, then spend the last six rounds of the set flowing each modification breath to movement. In the following two sets, I will only cue the standard salutation and leave it up to you to modify as needed.

    Once we finish the 36 salutations, we'll spend some more time in a standing series to finish out the vinyasa section of practice, then end things with a nice, smooth yin.

    Week Two: 72 Sun Salutations, Yin

    In the second week, we'll do the same thing as the first, but six sets of twelve rounds. As with week one, in the first set, we'll spend the first six rounds setting up all modifications, then close out the round with breath-to-movement flow.

    This will take up all of the vinyasa part of the practice, and will be followed by a gentle and restorative yin.

    Week Three: 108 Sun Salutations, No Yin, 75-minute practice

    We'll close out the month, the year, and the season with 108 sun salutations. As with the first two weeks, we'll go over the modifications and you'll flow from there. This will consist of nine sets of twelve rounds of salutations and it will take up the entire length of practice.

    In this special practice, we will also dedicate 75 minutes. At some point, you may start moving faster or slower than others in the room. Should you finish early, know that you're allowed to move to the social hour after, but be respectful and mindful of those who are still working on their practice.
