Join NAMI Mississippi for an informative Lunch & Learn exploring the often-overlooked connection between the menopause transition and mental well-being.

Hormonal and neurobiological changes during menopause can affect mood, anxiety, sleep, cognition, emotional regulation, and daily functioning. This session will help participants better understand these changes while examining how health equity, cultural experiences, and access to appropriate care can influence the menopause experience.

Participants will learn practical, evidence-informed approaches for recognizing menopause-related mental and emotional concerns, having more informed and supportive conversations, and connecting individuals with appropriate resources and interdisciplinary care.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Identify key hormonal and neurobiological changes associated with menopause and their potential effects on mood, anxiety, sleep, cognition, and emotional well-being.
Differentiate common menopause-related psychological and cognitive symptoms from concerns that may indicate a primary or co-occurring mental health condition, including when screening, referral, or interdisciplinary collaboration may be appropriate.
Apply practical, evidence-informed strategies for psychoeducation, culturally responsive support, advocacy, and referral.

With more than 15 years of experience in healthcare, clinical laboratory science, health education, and workforce wellness, she brings a biological and whole-person perspective to women’s health and mental well-being.
