Join Lauren Errington as she delves into living with the impact of social anxiety.

Anxiety is the most common mental ill-health condition in Australia, and 11% of the population meet the criteria for social anxiety disorder at some point in their life. Church and other relationship interactions can be a challenge for those experiencing social anxiety. What happens when our fight, flight and freeze responses, the very mechanisms that are inbuilt to protect us, actually overwhelm us and get in the way of life instead? And when we persistently compare our insides with other people's outsides? Join Lauren Errington at this Spotlight Seminar on Social Anxiety to try to understand more about what happens in our brains and our bodies when we experience social anxiety, and how we can be thoughtful in the way we love and support those around us.

Speaker: Lauren Errington

Lauren Errington is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Clinical Family Therapist and Accredited Supervisor. She has 15 years of experience working in tertiary level mental health services and private practice contexts in Australia and Scotland. Lauren currently offers counselling through the Family Systems Practice, where she continues to work with a wide range of mental health presentations including social anxiety. Lauren has been the Executive Director at the Family Systems Institute since 2021 and is a trainer and writer on Bowen Family Systems Theory and its application to clinical practice.

Founded by Keith and Sarah Condie, the Mental Health & Pastoral Care Institute exists to resource churches and Christian believers alike, so that we can all be better equipped to understand mental health and to serve and love others well. The Institute provides biblically and psychologically informed training and resources about mental health and healthy relationships for churches and individuals.
