Event description

Canberra Multicultural Community Forum Inc (CMCF) invites you to an interactive session on Mental Health Awareness and Prevention Program designed to reduce stigma, build mental health literacy, and encourage help-seeking behaviour within Canberra’s diverse Multicultural communities.

This session will be delivered by Mental Illness Education ACT (MIEACT), based on its Shine On program, in partnership with CMCF.

Lunch will be provided to session attendees before the session starts.

Date: Saturday 14 June 2025

Time: 1:00pm - 1:30pm (Lunch) and 1:30pm – 4:30pm (session)

Venue: Level 1, Room 10, The Griffin Centre, 20 Genge Street, Canberra City

Cost to Attend: FREE

This session will focus on understanding and recognising signs of distress, enhancing communication about mental health challenges, managing stress, encouraging self-care and promoting help-seeking.

This session will run for 3 hours, beginning with a 30-minute story-sharing and Q&A segment led by a CALD volunteer in a culturally sensitive manner. This is followed by 2.5 hours of Do NO Harm training, where participants delve into each principle and engage in meaningful discussions about safe and effective communication. This approach provides practical tools to build resilience, improve communication, and promote emotional wellbeing.
