Mental Health First Aid Course Melbourne
Description
Mental Health First Aid Supporting Young People A fully funded course for 8 participants, sponsored by the Lions and Probus Clubs of Healesville
It's not always easy to tell whether a young person is going through a normal phase or facing something more serious. Mood swings, risk-taking, changes in sleep or appetite, and loss of interest are common in adolescence, but sometimes they signal that support may be necessary for the young person.
This fully funded, evidence-based course gives adults including parents and grandparents, the training and confidence to recognise potential signs of mental health difficulties in young people and how to respond with the right support at the right time.
Mental Health First Aid Australia has trained over one million people since its launch in Canberra in 2000, with 140,000 Australians completing the course last year alone. The program is grounded in Australian and international research and covers the most common mental health difficulties facing young people today, along with a practical action plan for responding effectively and compassionately.
