Event description

BECOME A MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDER
Support friends, family members, colleagues and others.

One in five Australian adults experience a common mental illness each year.  Mental Health First Aid training will teach you practical skills to support someone with a mental health problem.  Make a real difference to people in your community.

The Standard Mental  Health First Aid course will teach you how to provide initial support to people who may be experiencing mental health problems.  The course has been developed using the expertise of people with lived experience as well as mental health professionals.  We'll explore Depression, Anxiety problems, Psychosis and Substance use.  Some of the crisis situations we'll explore include suicidal thinking, panic attacks and severe psychotic states.

Training goes for 12 hours over two days, and is accredited for 3 years.

A manual to keep, along with morning and afternoon tea is provided.  Please bring your own lunch.

2 days 8.45 for 9 am start to be finished by 4.00 pm both days.

Grab this opportunity to learn from the 2022 Winner of the Tasmanian LiFE Award for Outstanding Contribution to Suicide Prevention.

Feedback about this training:

I think Jonathan was an excellent speaker and presenter.  Though it was a 2 day course, he kept an engaging and consistent pace that didn't feel like it was drawn out to the point where it would get harder to concentrate while sitting in one spot for hours, which is why I appreciated the short breaks throughout the course and participating in activities that required us to stand up.
