Mental Health First Aid Training
Event description
Around 1 in 5 Australian adults experience a common mental illness each year. Understanding how to talk about mental health and help someone in need are important skills. The 12 hour Standard Mental Health First Aid course teaches any adult how to provide initial support to someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or crisis. Learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
This course is facilitated by Dr Gavin Brown, an experienced clinical psychologist and Director of Rapha Health and Unify Health in Springfield. Gavin is an experienced and engaging presenter who is passionate about increasing mental health literacy in the wider community.
