Refresher Course - Mental Health First Aid for UC Staff
Event description
UC Medical & Counselling is providing training for current and Accredited Mental Health First Aiders to stay up to date with mental health first aid knowledge, skills and information. You are eligible for a refresher course if you have accredited as a Mental Health First Aider within the last three years.

- This course is offered to UC Staff only for a discounted fee of $150, charged to your department's cost centre. Please ensure you have this information, and written management approval, before registering.
- You must have completed the Mental Health First Aid training within the past 3 years to complete the refresher course
Mental Health First Aiders will receive a reminder a few months before their accreditation expires to let them know when they are due to complete an MHFA Refresher Course. Accreditation can be renewed by completing a MHFA Refresher Course prior to to the accreditation expiry date, which adds a further three years to an accreditation date.
Course participants learn about the latest research in the mental health field, work through complex mental health first aid interactions, and practice their mental health first aid skills across a range of mental health problems and mental health crisis situations.
Participants can complete a short assessment at the end of a course to extend your Mental Health First Aid Accreditation. Three years after completing a Refresher Course such as this, Mental Health First Aiders will need to attend a full 12 or 14-hour MHFA course in order to maintain their accreditation.
