Merinda Dias-Jayasinha - ‘Sense’ BNE Album Launch

Merinda Dias-Jayasinha is a creative vocalist whose practice explores heartfelt and lyrical storytelling, genre-blurring compositions and the melodic and textural potential of the voice. Born and raised in Meanjin (Brisbane) with Sri Lankan/Australian heritage, Dias-Jayasinha explores her artistry, impressive vocal ability, and versatility through a number of ensembles and projects in Naarm (Melbourne).

In this special evening of music making, Dias-Jayasinha presents her debut album, Sense – a collection of original compositions and beloved jazz tunes. Sense exists in warm and woody palettes, with space favoured over frenetic playing. Gentle, elegant and paired back, jazz tonalities are at the heart of the album paired with a strong sense of personality which makes it a world of its own. This performance will feature her stellar collaborators, Niran Dasika (trumpet), Matt Hoyne (guitar), and Helen Svoboda (double bass).
