Metal Against War

We understand the effects of war hurt the working class everywhere. We understand that bombs falling on families and destruction of their infrastructure hurt the working class at the point of contact – these are the direct victims of war. Increased militarism, loss of friends and family members to post-traumatic stress disorder, direct fire and suicide hurt the working class on the other side.

Over here we bear the costs of living increases, standard of living decreases and curtailed life opportunities in a climate of increasing militarism and social disharmony.

We do not benefit from increased expenditure on weapons nor do we benefit from schemes in the financial markets.

We are resolved on the above.

Metal Against War is multi-artist show where we state clearly our opposition to Australian participation in international war and a positive commitment to peace.

This is a charity show hosted by the Workers' Weekly Guardian. Profits go to the Palestinian Australian New Zealand Medical Association (PANZMA). This organisation places clinicians from our region to Palestinian hospitals.

Musicians:

Electric Funeral: thrash outfit from Melbourne. Recently released a version of Men Behind The Wire in protest of Israeli president Isaac Herzog’s unofficial trip to Australia.

Dehumanizer: Groove/sludge. Creepy basslines, creepy vocals. Good stuff from a young outfit. Check the track “The Hermit” from their recent EP.

Hand of Fear: Death metal/grindcore. Quick. Heavy. ‘Nuff said.

Knife: Industrial death metal. Released Non Compos Mentis late last year on Primitive Moth Records.

Küntsqüad: (pronunciation: Kountskard): Crusty death metal satirists. Go hard. This outfit released a full-length LP mid last year. Replete with large riffs, shredding, searing leads and guttural utterances. Hard enough to take the piss.

Mamma Chen’s acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, the true owners of the land that we live and operate on. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
