This two day workshop will focus on MFR for the legs and pelvis. The foundation of the course will be direct release myofascial technique for these areas. There will be mobilising techniques for the major joints of the leg. There will also be assessments of pelvic biomechanics along with low force corrections of common dysfunctions.
MFR for:
• 4 aspects of the thigh - medial, lateral, anterior, posterior
• Lower Leg - gastrocs and soleus, anterior compartment, lateral compartment and the
retinaculum at the ankle
• Foot - plantar fascia
• Pelvis: lateral hip (TFL, glut medius); posterior pelvis (ligaments of SIJ, glut medius and deep
rotators); medial aspect at ischium; non-invasive work on pelvic floor

1. Talofibular
2. Talocrural
3. Tibiofemoral x 2
Pelvic Biomechanics
1. Sacral Rotation - assessment and correction
2. In-flare/out-flare - assessment and correction
3. Up-slip/down-slip - assessment and correction
4. Anterior/posterior torsion - assessment and correctio
Presenter: Michael Stanborough
Michael Stanborough, MA, Advanced Rolfer, has taught Myofascial Release at numerous schools, hospitals and clinics in the USA, Korea, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Puerto Rico, Australia and Africa. He was the first Australian to be certified as a teacher of Rolfing® by the Rolf Institute and has been practicing that method for over 35 years. Michael is director of SI Australia. His classes blend new information on the physiology of fasciae with lively presentations of techniques that are immediately relevant to practising therapists.
