REVOLVER FRIDAYS PRESENTS MICHAEL MAYER

Michael Mayer is one of the defining figures of Cologne’s electronic music scene, renowned as a DJ, producer and remixer, and for his enduring influence as co-head of the legendary Kompakt label. Since its establishment in 1998, Kompakt has played a pivotal role in shaping European techno, with Mayer instrumental in championing new artists and sounds.

His own productions move fluidly between house and techno, distinguished by their minimal sensibility, dubby flourishes and restless musical curiosity. From his influential Immer mix series and celebrated DJ-Kicks mix to studio albums including Touch, Mantasy and &, Mayer has continually explored the boundaries of electronic music.

In 2024, he released The Floor Is Lava on Kompakt, an album inspired by the unrestrained spirit of early house music and conceived as a DJ album by a DJ. Across decades of releases, collaborations and curatorial work, Mayer remains a central figure in electronic music, connecting Cologne’s underground roots with the ever-evolving sounds of the global dance floor.
