Mickey & Michelle: Fiddle, Harp & Folk Music Workshops (Warrnambool)

Join acclaimed Australian folk duo Mickey & Michelle for a hands-on workshop exploring the joy of learning and playing music by ear. Whether you're a beginner or a more experienced player, these workshops are all about getting your instrument in your hands, learning a tune, and making music together.

There are three workshops to choose from:

1. Fiddle Workshop with Mickey 5-6pm
Learn a tune entirely by ear, then dive deeper into the details that bring a fiddle tune to life - including ornamentation, bowing patterns and ways to add your own character to the music. Suitable for beginner to intermediate fiddle players.

2. Harp Workshop with Michelle 5-6pm
Designed with beginner harpists in mind, this relaxed workshop will teach a tune by ear before exploring simple accompaniment ideas to help you turn a melody into a complete piece of music. A great introduction to learning by ear on the harp.

3. Mixed Instrument Workshop with Mickey & Michelle 7-8pm
Bring your instrument and learn a simple tune by ear in a welcoming, collaborative session. We'll explore some easy accompaniment ideas and ways different instruments can work together. The workshop is aimed primarily at beginner players and is particularly suited to instruments such as harp, guitar, fiddle and other melodic or chordal instruments.

All three workshops are taught entirely by ear, with no need to read music during the session. Sheet music for the tune will be made available afterwards, so you can take what you've learned home with you.

Mickey & Michelle bring together their backgrounds in Celtic, folk and contemporary music to create workshops that are practical, encouraging and fun.

Tip: Bring your phone or another recording device - you're very welcome to record the workshop to help you remember the tune and ideas afterwards!
