10am - 11am NZT: Yoga and Intro to Microvolunteering

Before you can serve your community, you have to serve yourself. That’s why we’re going to kick things off with a gentle yoga session (thanks to BodyFusion). Then, we’ll have a chat about what microvolunteering is.

11am - 12pm NZT: SPCA Toy Drive

Let’s help animals in need by repurposing old clothes and fabric into tug toys, which will then be donated to the SPCA. To join, you’ll need a good pair of scissors, plus some old fabric (a good quality t-shirt, pair of jeans, or towel will suit).

12pm - 1pm NZT: Introduction to NZ Sign Language

This session will equip you with basic Sign Language so you can communicate with deaf and hard of hearing communities.

1pm - 2pm NZT: Lunchtime!

2pm - 3pm NZT: Postcard Picnic

For this session, we’ll be getting together to write messages of love for lonely residents in local rest-homes. To join, you’ll need some blank paper or cardstock, a pen, and a few colouring pens. If you have any craft materials (scrapbooking paper, crayons, stickers, etc) that you’d like to use, feel free to bring them along.

3pm - 4pm NZT: Love Letters

Let’s brighten the day of sick children in hospital by decorating letter placards! To join, you’ll need some blank A4 paper and a few colouring pens.

4pm - 5pm NZT: Remembrance Ceremony

This session is your chance to decorate a candle bag, to honour and remember those affected by cancer. To join, you’ll need a small paper bag (kraft bags, or supermarket bags work well), plus a tealight candle and some colouring pens. If you have any craft materials (scrapbooking paper, crayons, stickers, etc) that you’d like to use, feel free to bring them along. Please note, this activity can be an emotional or triggering experience for some, as we take time to remember those who have passed from cancer. We encourage you to embrace the beautiful memories we got to share with these loved ones and remember them in an artistic and meaningful way.

7pm - 8:30pm NZT: Bake-along

There's no better way to spread some kindness than with a sweet treat ... and for this session, we’ll be joined by Great Kiwi Bake Off winner, Alby Hailes, who will help us whip up a lime, apple & poppy seed cake for a friend or someone in need. To join, you’ll need:
- finely grated zest and juice (approx. 85ml) of 4 limes
- 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- ⅔ cup (165ml) canola oil
- ½ cup (100g) caster sugar
- ¼ cup (50g) soft brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup (210g) Greek-style coconut yoghurt
- 1 ¾ cups (265g) plain white flour
- ¾ cup (85g) ground almonds
- ½ cup (50g) desiccated coconut
- 3 Tbsp poppy seeds
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- 2 medium granny smith apples, peeled, cored and chopped into 1cm chunks (approx. 180g)
- 1 ⅓ cups (100g) coconut chips/flakes
- 50g vegan butter or spread (e.g. Nuttelex)
- ¾ cup (75g) soft brown sugar
- finely grated zest and juice of 1 lime
- ¼ cup (60ml) coconut cream)
