Event description

Microplastics are everywhere - just because we can't see them with our eyes doesn't mean they are not there.

These tiny particles have massive implications for humans and ecosystem health.

If they are in our soils, what does that mean for us?

Find out in this talk organised by Keep Learning Mid Canterbury and the local branch of Soil and Health. Helena Ruffell is our guest speaker from the University of Canterbury. Helena has recently completed a PhD and will discuss the research she undertook, also during her Masters of Science, where she researched microplastics in bio-waste which is applied onto land in Aotearoa. Helena's presentation will go for about half an hour then we'll have time for your questions. After that you can either head home or stay for a bit longer and enjoy a cuppa and the opportunity to connect with others.

Anyone interested in soil science, agriculture, gardening and/ or waste will find this talk fascinating! All are welcome - but please register as places are limited.

To help cover costs of our speaker's travel and venue hire, tickets are $10. If this is prohibitive, we still want you to attend, please choose 'koha' ticket and you can give what you can on the night into our Koha kete or choose an amount to give when purchasing your ticket.
