DESIGN TOUR: Explore Taglietti's Architecture | Heritage Festival 2026

Join us at Canberra Museum and Gallery for an exclusive, expert-led architectural tour celebrating Enrico Taglietti’s iconic Canberra designs. Guided by architect, author, educator and Australian Architecture Association President, Tone Wheeler, this unique Heritage Festival experience will visit some iconic Taglietti buildings across the city.

Tour participants will enjoy rare access to buildings normally closed to the public, and be immersed in Taglietti's distinctive use of space, material and light.

Tour Itinerary

Morning

Begin at CMAG before boarding the bus and journeying to Giralang Primary School via Dickson Library to discover Taglietti's bold geometric forms and revolutionary modernist vision for places of learning. Continue to the Australian War Memorial's Treloar A facility in Mitchell for a guided exterior tour of this remarkable example of Taglietti's civic and institutional architecture.

Lunch (Included)

Enjoy authentic Italian cuisine at Agostini's restaurant at the East Hotel, Griffith. Included in ticket price.

Afternoon

Gain rare public access to the Apostolic Nunciature on Vancouver Street, Red Hill — one of Taglietti's most celebrated diplomatic commissions and an architectural gem rarely seen by visitors. The day concludes with a return to CMAG for a guided tour of the Taglietti: Life in Design exhibition with Senior Curator Virginia Rigney, seen now with fresh eyes after a full day in the buildings.
